Bryngwyn Gains the Sliver Eco Schools Award

Bryngwyn School has achieved the Silver Award in the Eco Schools Programme. This is due to the hard work of both staff and the pupils.

Current Eco Activities include:

  • Yr 9 Recycling Team collect paper and plastic throughout the school every Friday.
  • Litter Picks in the Community
  • Making signs and notices to promote Green Activities in Bryngwyn.
  • Ink/Toner Cartridge Recycling

Targets for this school year include:

  • Launching the National Chewing Gum Campaign at Bryngwyn with the Welsh Assembly Minister for Education & Skills, Leighton Andrews, visiting the school on Wednesday, 14th September 2011.
  • Designing a pond for Ellis Woods, our wildlife area, that will be used as an outdoor classroom.
  • Setting up a Science Club which will involve pupils in the building of bird boxes and creating areas to encourage more  ‘mini beasts into the woods, thus increasing biodiversity.
  • Increase the recycling of food waste & batteries and providing recycling bins outdoors for break times.
